Description of Department:

The Performing Arts Department is a relatively new department in the school having only been introduced into the Post-16 Curriculum in September 2007.  We now offer Performing Arts at AS and A2 Level where pupils can specialise in Drama, Music or Dance.  The pupils also study skills in Sound, Lighting, Makeup, Stage Production, and Management in order to give them a greater insight into the world of the Performing Arts.

Performing Arts is a vocational AS/A2 level subject and is now offered as part of the post-16 collaboration in the Larne area.  Assessment is through coursework and practical performances under the moderation of an Edexcel external examiner.

The Lecture Theatre, Stage, and Games Hall are used for Performing Arts classes.  The pupils also have the opportunity to use the practice rooms in the Music Department.  When possible the pupils are given the chance to use the Dance Studios in the Valley Leisure Centre.
