Home Economics helps to develop skills for life. All pupils study Home Economics at Key Stage 3 and may select to continue at GCSE, AS and A level.

Key Stage 3

Opportunities are provided to learn about healthy eating and to develop practical food preparation skills.  Aspects of home and family life are explored to develop an understanding of the importance of the family as a caring unit. Independent living skills are also developed and pupils learn the importance of becoming discerning consumers and effective managers of resources.

Pupils are rewarded for their food knowledge and cooking capabilities when they take part in the Active Kids Get Cooking Award Scheme.
